The Tao Dan sculpture park is one of the nicest parks in Saigon. On the weekend it is abuzz of activities with dance clubs, boy scouts and other groups mixed in with the park visitors.
Occupying nearly 25 Acres in central Saigon, Tao Dan Park iss one of the city’s oldest and largest green spaces. Established during the French colonial period in the 1860s, the park features over 1,000 mature trees, including numerous rare specimens.
The landscape combines traditional Vietnamese and French colonial design elements, with ornamental rock gardens, walking paths, and decorative sculptures.
Notable features include a classical Vietnamese-style temple dedicated to the Hung Kings, ornate topiary sculptures, and a children’s playground.
The park’s central location made it historically significant during the Vietnam War, when it served as a gathering point for military personnel.
Early mornings at Tao Dan Park are particularly active, with locals practicing tai chi, playing badminton, and exercising in the outdoor gym area.
The park also houses a notable bird cafe where songbird enthusiasts gather with their caged birds, a tradition dating back generations.
